#8 Today I called my local movie theater to encourage them to screen the movie Loving. In addition to a beautiful love story, I think it is particularly important to support diversity in love. The kids find it incredulous that until 1948 in California my husband and I could not have been legally married. In many states it wasn’t until the 1967 Supreme Court decision that it became legal. And, sadly 50 years later, there are still people and places in the United States where people try to prevent interracial marriage. Love is love.
Action you can take: Call your local movie theater and ask them to show the movie. Take your family to see the movie and talk about it afterwards in an open and considered way.
