#23 Counteract Hate

#23 The Islamic Center near us received horrible hate male. Some of the vilest language I’ve ever seen used towards other humans. Well, if I profess to believe that America is stronger for its diversity than I’d better do more than just talk about it. So yesterday’s Act of Kindness was to participate in a peaceful demonstration of support. Dozens of us, from many different places, stood together outside the Islamic Center for the afternoon. Many people who went in for prayer stopped and talked to each one of us. Held our hands, thanked us. One woman and I cried together. She with her hijab, me with my pink tennis shoes. We laughed when we realized we were both pantsuit nation.

Action you can take: Show support for other people. If you see someone being discriminated against, stand for them. Speak with them. Offer support.
